The Band

The Horse Band evolved as the resident band from Launceston rock venue the White Horse Inn and features six of Cornwall's finest. They developed into one of the regions best entertaining Classic Rock and Funk bands, performing at festivals, weddings galore, public gigs and corporate functions.

The Band is comprised of exceptional vocalists Mike "wicked singer" and Samantha, two excellent guitarists "Taxman" Kevin and "Techno" Kev. John Mitchell is one of the U.K.'s finest percussionists / tutors and ex-session player 'Stormin' Norm completes the line-up on bass and vocals. Individually the members have played in a cross-section of bands. John toured extensively with West End theatre shows, was Bjork's musical director and is an accredited sound engineer. Stormin has sessioned with global artists through his connections with major labels including Apple and Epic. Collectively, this solid 6 piece is high-energy, oozes quality and entertains on all levels - a band for all occasions.

The Horse Band has performed at many prestigious venues in recent years such as The Eden Project, VW fest at Stithians Showground, Wadebridge Royal Cornwall Show and Organizers after-party, St. Austell Brewery's Celtic Beer Festival, St. Mellion International Golf. Their corporate clients include a Hollywood film producer who invited the band to play at his wedding in 2009 with several 'A' list celebs in the audience.

The Horse Band's repertoire is updated regularly features a wealth of UK and US classic rock and contemporary pop tracks which stand the test of time. Much of the Band's strength is its ability to arrange and perform the tracks in their own unique style, a blend of punchy rock, high-octane percussion and multi-part 'energy' vocals.

2010 has been a very busy and successful year for the Band. Headlining the Salcombe Festival in June to an audience of 2500 was an awesome experience and is best summed up by David Cohen, Chair of the three day event:
"When a band ignites an event the way you all did, it makes the whole year's work worthwhile, and 'we'll' see you all again! This might sound wrong, but there was a time during the show when I called for the police to come nearer to the stage zone and mingle with the crowd. I knew we were not with troublemakers out there, but simply with people who you'd brought to the 'party edge' and I didn't want the energy coming from the stage to tip them over. Take it as an absolute compliment, and thank you again. All the very best. David."

The Horse Band are delighted to be headlining the Salcombe Festival once again on June 11, 2011.

There are many equally humbling tributes from audiences who've heard the Band throughout Cornwall and Devon and suffice to say read the Guest Book reviews on their website http://www.thehorseband.co.uk.

The VW fest at Stithians in August had a site audience of 4000 and again was a remarkable gig. This was the Horse Band's third year at the event. Performing alongside the immaculate Funky's Disco (Jethro's warm-up team) was brilliant and the band are delighted to announce Funky will be their special guests at Strawberry Fields, Lifton near Launceston on December 31st. The Horse Band are promoting their own NEW YEARS EVE PARTY bash at STRAWBERRY FIELDS and promise it will be hottest party in town!

The Horse Band have been guests of PIRATE FM at their Precious Lives Appeal event in 2010 and will be performing for them again in April 2011. Everyone will be welcome!

The Horse Band played at many wedding fests in 2010 and 2011 is shaping up to be equally as busy with several confirmed receptions and even more pending. They will also be revisiting many of their regular venues throughout the South West where they've built a great rapport with local audiences. Also, beware of one of the guys appearing in an ITV documentary "Smile - This Was Candid Camera" over Christmas!

The Band has a sampler CD available for potential clients and intend recording a 12 track CD of rock anthems next year. A DVD of the same tracks was recorded at The Eden Project and can be viewed via the play list on this website.
